MOTHER CARBON

Legal

Plainly stated.

Our role

MOTHER Carbon underwrites, structures and administers. It does not lend, invest, arrange investments for retail clients or hold client money. Any financing is provided by licensed partners acting on their own credit judgement and under their own authorisations.

No offer

Nothing on this site is an offer, a solicitation or investment advice. Descriptions of how a financing might work are illustrative and depend on each project's documents and each partner's own decision.

Figures and examples

Figures from third parties are dated and sourced where they appear. Charts and tables marked Illustrative show how a thing would work; they are not the record of any real project.

This policy explains how MOTHER Carbon collects, uses and protects personal information through this website, its forms and its letters. We hold only what we need, and we say plainly what we do with it.

1. Who we are

MOTHER Carbon is a venture of aeons labs, which runs this site. Our address is 30 St Mary Axe, London EC3A 8BF. For the purposes of data protection law, including the UK GDPR, aeons labs is the controller of the personal information described here. Questions about this policy, or about your information, are welcome at contact.mothercarbon@aeonslabs.com.

2. What we collect

Only what each form asks for, and nothing more.

When you write to us, we receive your name, email address, organisation, the part you play and your note.

When you request access to MOTHER Intelligence, we receive your name, work email, organisation, job title, the part you play, your country and any note.

When you subscribe, or join a waiting list for something still in preparation, we receive your email address, the part you play and the topics you choose.

The readiness check runs in your browser alone; your answers are neither stored nor sent. We do not ask you to create an account.

3. How we use it

  • To reply to you, and to follow up on what you asked for.
  • To consider a request for access, and to send your invitation.
  • To send the letters you chose, and to honour every unsubscribe.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we make no automated decisions about you.

4. Our legal basis

We hold your email address for letters and waiting lists on the basis of your consent, given when you subscribe. You may withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing; this does not affect what was done before. We answer notes and access requests on the basis of our legitimate interest in replying to you and in admitting the right people.

5. The services we use

We run no email or database servers of our own. Each of these services handles your data only on our behalf, and only as far as its work requires.

Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel, which passes what you send through its forms on to us.

Records. What you send is kept in a Google Sheet, run by Google, that only MOTHER can open. For subscribers this includes your subscription status and the date of your last letter.

Email. Our replies and letters are sent through Gmail, run by Google.

6. Cookies and tracking

We set no cookies and use no analytics, advertising or tracking tools, so there is no cookie banner. Our letters carry no tracking pixels.

7. Sharing

We never sell, rent or trade your information, and we never share it with advertisers, data brokers or anyone else for marketing. It goes only to the services named in section 5, and only as they need it. We may disclose information where the law requires it.

8. International transfers

Vercel and Google may store or process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, we rely on their safeguards and contractual commitments, made to give the protection the law requires.

9. How long we keep it

Notes are kept for as long as the conversation needs, and no longer than two years after it ends. Access requests are kept while you hold access, and deleted within two years if no access follows. Your email address stays on our list while you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, you are removed from future letters at once; the address stays marked as unsubscribed, so that we keep honouring your choice and a record of your consent. Every letter carries a link to unsubscribe, which works without signing in or confirming again.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, and in full under the UK GDPR, you may:

  • See the personal information we hold about you.
  • Have it corrected if it is wrong or incomplete.
  • Have it deleted.
  • Receive a copy of it in a portable format.
  • Object to, or limit, how we use it.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time.

Write to contact.mothercarbon@aeonslabs.com and we will reply within the time the law allows. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

11. Children

This site and its letters are not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we change the date above, and we announce material changes in our letters. aeons labs intends to incorporate as a registered company; when it does, this policy will name the incorporated company as the controller.

13. Contact

For anything about this policy or your information, write to contact.mothercarbon@aeonslabs.com.

Work in progress

Parts of MOTHER are still being built, and are marked as such. We never present as finished what is still in the making.
